It’s always fascinating to be a small piece of an enormous work, such as This is Reading. For months, you hear bits and bobs about the grand scheme but focus only on your tiny piece. This past weekend, we saw it all come together at Franklin Street Station.
This episode focuses on Alix Lambert’s play, “Crime, USA,” for which the playwright interviewed criminals, gang members, pawn shop owners, lawyers, FBI agents, and more to investigate the state of crime in America. Here, actor Frank Harts portrays one of Lambert’s subjects, a former gang member named Antonio, who talks about about the first time he got in a fight, the first time he carried a gun, and his life pre-and-post gang. This was recorded during a live performance at Joe’s Pub in NYC. Some language and content may not be appropriate for children under the age of 18.
