Ten years after "The Great Immensity," received a National Science Foundation grant that drew the ire of Congressional Republicans, The Civilians' Artistic Director Steve Cosson discusses the complicated relationship between the government and arts organizations.
This episode focuses on Alix Lambert’s play, “Crime, USA,” for which the playwright interviewed criminals, gang members, pawn shop owners, lawyers, FBI agents, and more to investigate the state of crime in America. Here, actor Frank Harts portrays one of Lambert’s subjects, a former gang member named Antonio, who talks about about the first time he got in a fight, the first time he carried a gun, and his life pre-and-post gang. This was recorded during a live performance at Joe’s Pub in NYC. Some language and content may not be appropriate for children under the age of 18.
