Ten years after "The Great Immensity," received a National Science Foundation grant that drew the ire of Congressional Republicans, The Civilians' Artistic Director Steve Cosson discusses the complicated relationship between the government and arts organizations.
This week, we begin a series investigating Occupy Wall Street. In this, the first of three episodes, we feature the voices of people who have been involved with the movement from the onset. Here, actors Matt Stadelmann, Matt Dellapina, Alix Lambert, and Jordan Mahome embody actual Occupy demonstrators. Plus, Kelly McCreary performs Michael Friedman’s song “I Have Not Slept.”
The material in this podcast is based on interviews that Civilians’ artists conducted in and around Zuccotti Park in the fall of 2011. It was recorded on October 28, 2011, during a live performance at Joe’s Pub that was featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and Faster Times.
