Ten years after "The Great Immensity," received a National Science Foundation grant that drew the ire of Congressional Republicans, The Civilians' Artistic Director Steve Cosson discusses the complicated relationship between the government and arts organizations.
This episode features more material from “Occupy #S17,” a special cabaret the Civilians hosted at Joe’s Pub to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Occupy Wall Street. Mia Rovegno directed the evening, which drew from interviews conducted by Steven Cosson, Ian Daniel and Dan Domingues, among others. Highlighted here are monologues from actors Maria Elena Ramirez and Colleen Werthmann, as well as a performance of the song “Cazador” by the band Pistolera, which consists of Ramirez & musician Sandra Velazquez.
