Eva von Schweinitz, the lead artist of "The Space between the Letters," discusses how her deep dive into adult literacy inspired her most recent work. Incorporating interviews and devising techniques, this project is being developed in the Civilians R&D Group.
In the third and final episode of our OWS series: Emily Ackerman plays Michele Kelley, an experienced activist; Billy Eugene Jones and Jordan Mahome play real-life teamsters Omar Omes and Michael Curtis; and Matt Dellapina, Kelly McCreary, Dan Domingues, and Matt Stadelmann play a group of young protestors. To close the show, Michael Friedman leads the cast in a sing-along of John Brill’s 1911 protest song, “Dump the Bosses Off Your Back.”
The material in this podcast is based on interviews that Civilians’ artists conducted in and around Zuccotti Park in the fall of 2011. It was recorded on October 28, 2011, during a live performance at Joe’s Pub that was featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and Faster Times.
